Why use a Travel Agent?

We all love to travel.  Every excursion opens new worlds, providing experiences and opportunity for exploring. But planning a trip can be daunting. A quick internet search will reveal millions of options, but how do you know who to trust?

Planning the average family vacation takes 40+ hours. That’s a full-time job on anyone’s schedule.  Travel agents have access to vendors that most are unaware of and this is key to planning your dream vacation.

When it comes to planning your vacation, I recommend starting early.  Assuming we aren’t talking about the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras, running with the bulls or something equally time-sensitive, planning six to nine months ahead is sufficient. For luxury trips, nine to twelve months is what I normally recommend.

When working with a travel agent a good starting place for planning is to figure out where and when you want to go and then crunch the numbers for your budget.  But if that’s all you know, rest assured, you will quickly run into more than one brick wall. The more you know about what you want to do and the experience you desire, the better a travel agent can help you plan.

A vacation is more than how much money you spend. At the end of the day, your vacation should be about the memories – time spent with family, the places discovered and the interesting tidbits learned.  That’s a vacation.  If your only memory is how much money was saved, then you didn’t have a vacation.
